Voisit ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that provides Faroese text-to-speech functionality. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

• Email address: Used for authentication and account identification
• Authentication tokens: Securely stored to keep you logged in

2. Text Content

• Selected text or page content: When you request text-to-speech, the text you select or the page content is sent to our servers for audio synthesis
• This text is processed in real-time and is not permanently stored

3. Usage Data

• Character count: We track the number of characters synthesized for subscription usage limits
• Preferences: Your selected voice and playback speed settings

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Browsing history
• Passwords or financial information
• Location data
• Personal communications
• Data from pages you don't explicitly request to read

How We Use Your Data

• Authentication: To verify your identity and subscription status
• Text-to-Speech: To convert your selected text into audio
• Usage Tracking: To enforce subscription limits and provide usage statistics
• Preferences: To remember your voice and speed settings

Data Storage and Security

• Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google)
• API requests are processed through Cloudflare Workers with encrypted connections (HTTPS)
• Text content is processed in memory and not permanently stored on our servers
• Your preferences are stored locally in your browser's extension storage

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication and user database
• Cloudflare: API hosting and security
• Hugging Face: Text-to-speech model hosting
• Stripe: Payment processing (via web.voisit.fo, not the extension)

Your Rights

• Access: You can request a copy of your data
• Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt-out: You can uninstall the extension at any time

Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active
• Usage statistics are reset monthly
• Text content is not retained after processing

Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension or via email.
